About the event

NO SWEETS IN NOVEMBER!!!??? Yep, you got that right! And not just “sweets” as you might be thinking. But for 4 weeks, we will challenge ourselves to cut out Sugar (which includes sweets and other foods with added sugar), Wine (and other alcohol beverages), Excessive lounging around, Excuses , Takeout and Smoking (any substance i.e. nicotine, tobacco, marijuana, THC, etc).

Why in November, you might ask! Well, this is the time of year we overindulge on all of the unhealthy stuff! And rightfully so. It’s the Holidays! But what if you told yourself ‘No’ even when you feel like you should have the foods high in sugar and should be lounging on the couch that’s been waiting on you all week long? Can you imagine the mental fortitude you will build. What if you said no on Thanksgiving to that sweet potato pie, the glass of wine or that cigarette after eating that hefty meal? What if instead of giving yourself a good reason not to join this challenge (EXCUSES), that you challenge yourself and do the things that others won’t so that you can have - later - what others don’t. This challenge is design to help us mentally AND physically. I’m not promising you weight loss(although you can lose weight as a result of successfully completing this challenge), but I am promising that you will become a better you! Let’s have FUN!

What you need to know: This challenge is FREE to join! It will start November 5th and end November 30th, 11:59 pm. You will have the option to choose from two roads: Lite and Extreme. The “Lite” road is for the ones that would like to end the challenge on November 24th Thanksgiving Day. The “Extreme” road is for the ones that decides to push through until the end, November 30th. Whichever road you choose you will have a team and community supporting you along the way. You should take a full body picture (wearing athletic apparel) holding an 8x12 sheet of paper showing the date and weight you took your pic. At the end of the challenge, you will take another picture holding an 8x12 sheet of paper displaying your weight and the date of picture. You will email both picture at the end of the challenge to admin@getthesteppin.com . You will receive a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat. You will track your successes and failures. Feel free to post your day to day on social media our email videos. You should and you will set a water goal and track your daily physical activity.

Step 3: Grocery List/Physical Activity

Review the grocery list provided and plan out your meals. Your success is in how well you prepare each week. So, plan to go grocery shopping and consider meal prepping for each week. Also, if you don’t already have a workout regimen, please plan daily walks and/or times you can work out.

Step 4: Listen to your body

Your body will give off signs that you want to pay attention to. It is common to experience some soreness after you’ve performed some level of physical activity, especially if you haven’t been very active. Remember to pace yourself. It is also common to experience withdrawals when you remove things like sugar, alcohol or smoking from your diet/daily intake. Things like headaches, mood swings and cravings are some common symptoms. Before starting any physical or nutritional challenge, please consult your primary physician.
